At the West Lothian group our goal is to provide support and information to people living with diabetes, as well as their family, friends and anyone else who is interested in knowing more about diabetes.
We do this through -
* a monthly newsletter to keep you up to date with everything related to diabetes in West Lothian
* monthly meetings with the opportunity to slow down and relax , have a chat over a cup of tea, access a wide range of information and listen to/raise questions with a variety of expert guest speakers.
* a walking group , exercise sessions with a personal trainer and Easyline seated exercise sessions
*a weekly Nutrition Club led by a dietician
We are also passionate about raising awareness of diabetes and identifying people at high risk of developing the condition so that they can take steps to avoid developing diabetes or get the appropriate treatment if they need it. We provide a Diabetes Information and Awareness Table (DIAT) at St John's Hospital Diabetes Clinics and at GP surgeries, local organisations and diabetes events.(currently suspended)
The group is run by a committee of volunteers who are keen to hear ideas of how the group can be developed and improved.
