What's Your Story?
- 19 September 2015
Our Chair, May Millward, is involved in the steering group for a national project to improve the care in hospital of people with diabetes. Saubia Sohail is the Engaging Communities’ Officer for Diabetes Scotland and she is looking to write up some case studies to support this work and to assist Diabetes Scotland in lobbying parliamentarians and the media and in meetings with Health Care Professionals. Saubia wants to conduct interviews with people who have had a hospital experience (which is directly or indirectly linked to their diabetes) which they would like to share so that we can demonstrate the real patient experience and how, if their procedure was not directly related to Diabetes, their needs as a person living with diabetes were met. Saubia would like to know about the care they were provided, if they were satisfied/ not satisfied and in hindsight if they could change anything, what would it be and why. Participants have full control over the usage of their story and will sign a consent form that covers data protection and clearly asks them to what level and in which format they are happy for us to use their story.
We hope that Saubia will be able to attend our 7 October group meeting to speak to people about her project but if you are keen to share your story she will be delighted to hear from you directly.
